Charcuterie Boards (Or Plates):
These can be set up in simple or elegant designs. You can have an assortment of any of the following or create your own.
- Meats (Salty and Savory): Salami, pepperoni, prosciutto, ham, cured chorizo, capricola, soppressata, summer sausage, etc.
- Cheeses: cheddar (white or orange), swiss, gouda, gruyere, parmesan
- Soft Cheeses: rie, triple cream, goat cheese, havarti, burrata, cream cheese with pepper jelly on top, blue cheese or gorgonzola
- Crackers: variety of crackers of different shapes, sizes and flavors. Some of my favorites include pita crackers, multigrain crackers, butter crackers and water crackers
- Breads: Sliced Brioche, Naan Bread, French Bread Baguettes, Pita Bread, Pumpernickel
- Savory Dips and spreads: Whole ground mustard, hummus, ranch, balsamic dip
More Ideas for Charcuterie Board:
- Dried Fruit: apricots, cherries, figs, pineapple, mango, apples, cranberries, kiwi, strawberries
- Fresh fruit and berries: grapes, apples, pears, oranges, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries
- Nuts: almonds, candied pecans, pistachio nuts, cashews, macadamia nuts, etc.
- Briny, pickled or marinated: olives, cocktail onions, cornichons, dill pickles, pepperoncini, green olives stuffed with garlic or feta
- Jams/Jellies: Fig Preserves, Pepper Jelly, Apple Butter, Grape Jam, Apricot Jam, Blueberry Jam
- Chocolates: a few pieces of quality dark chocolate or chocolate covered nuts, or get an assortment
- Veggies: carrots, celery, bell peppers, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus and green beans
You can even tie them to a certain theme, like a color, geographic region or season. I’m thinking Taco Board, Breakfast Board or even Pizza Board would be fun. Here are some other fun ideas:
- Easter Board
- 4th of July Board (Red, White & Blue)
- Halloween Board (Black, Orange, Purple, Lime Green)
- Thanksgiving Board (Brown, Orange, Yellow)
- Christmas Tree Board (Tradional Colors or anything in between)
- Hanukkah
- There are Endless Possibilities!
But perhaps the main reason they’re a must for entertaining is that they don’t require many culinary skills to assemble. These are set up to be picked up in tastes as they are enjoyed with the Wines.
